Merit Evidence - Librarian #1

Librarian

Can Do

Every week on a Monday, Monique, Sam L and Samara and I are on Librarian.

Our job is to read books to the younger students in the junior area, outside the Music room deck.

Personally I think that the kids really like the new change, and I do as well.

Heaps of students come and listen to us read books to them, and it is very popular.

The CARE value I showed was Community because I got involved and communicated respectfully.

Drama Improvisation Term 1

WALT: Apply the techniques of improvisation to a range of different scenarios.

Improvisation techniques that I have used successfully are always say yes, Use past knowledge and be specific.

Improvisation techniques that I would like to have more practice at are don't be nervous.

The thing that I enjoyed most about this unit of learning was all the improv games because they were really fun and they taught me alot about Improvisation.

The thing that I found most challenging during this unit of learning was

finding the Improvisation techniques in the videos because you needed to think about it and come up with them because they weren't obvious.

My favourite improv game was The name rap game because it was fun trying to rhyme names to make a rap.
My next step/ something I need to work on further in improvisation is not being nervous to perform infront of an audience.

Writing- Exposition

Writing Exposition

WALT- Follow the writing process to write an Exposition.

We were Writing an Exposition about two leaders, who we thought were good leaders.  The leaders I chose were Richie McCaw and Kate Sheppard.

Here is my Conclusion of my Writing,

In Conclusion I think Richie McCaw is a better leader because he leads his team as a captain, and has achieved many things.

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.

We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are Integrity, Trustworthy, Resilient, Goal focused, Motivational and Active thinker.

The leadership trait that I think I show the most is Motivational, because, I cheer people on (eg) at Koru games trails, I cheered people on to do their absolute best.

The leadership trait I would most like to develop is Active thinker, because, I don't contribute to class and group discussions that often.

Something NEW I have learned about leadership is being a House captain because I have learnt so much about being a leader.

The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is Extended abstract because, I can, I can evaluate the effectiveness of a leader.

My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.

Merit Evidence - Kapahaka #2

Kapahaka

Can do

Today I had Kapahaka.  It is at 10.30 each week.

I walked over to the hall quickly and quietly and took my shoes off in the hall foyer and put them down neatly.

Once I was in the hall, I sat down in my spot and talked quietly to the person beside me.

The first song we sung was our school song for a quick warm up.

Next we sung hareriua, then the people who were in the non performance group left and went back to class.

After we practiced our school song to get that song ready for the Cultural Festival.  The bit we practiced the most was when the boys come through the middle to get ready for the haka.

The leadership trait I think I showed was Resilient because some of the songs were quite hard but I kept going.

Merit Evidence #5

Leadership meeting Follow up.

Must do.

Today we needed to read chapter of the book called eight things I wish I knew when I was a Student leader.

After that we needed to answer some questions.

The Leadership trait I showed was Resilient because it was hard but I kept trying and I got through it and I finished at a High standard.

Here is my chart of the question and then the answers,

Balancing Responsibilities

Questions
My responsibility to my school work
My responsibility to
leadership duties
A responsibility have outside
of school is:
Who is someone that can help me often with this?
My teacher Miss O because whenever I am behind in my school work I can seek help.
Another House Captain or Mr Brown because all the student leaders are a team and I can ask them for help and Mr Brown can help me with anything to do with my house.
My Family or Coach because my family and coach can both give me tips for when I play Netball.
When is this responsibility usually my highest priority?
SML because we need to complete our SML each week.
If there is an house event that is coming up.
If my team has some sort of competition coming up and I need to train for it.
What is the main objective that I am aiming for with this responsibility?
I am aiming to try my absolute best to complete my standard.
To be a good role model to my house,  to make my house win and also have fun.
To improve my skills in Netball.

Merit Evidence - Kapahaka #1

KapaHaka

Can do

On Friday I had Kapa Haka. It was at 10.30.

I walked over to the hall quickly and respectfully and took my shoes off in the hall foyer.

Once I was inside I sat down in my spot and talked quietly to the people beside me.

The first song we sang was He honore. We did this as a warm up.

Next we sang hareruia. We decided this will be our opening song for the Cultural festival but only a few people will be on stage at the start singing then the girls join in then the boys.

Then we sang the school song. We went through it a few times then Mr Brown told us to stop. Mrs Baker and Mr Brown ah came up with a new move. It was sliding across while doing jazz hands. We did this a few times and the it was time to go.

The CARE value I showed was Respect because I didn't talk while anyone else was talking.
