Excellence Evidence - Must Do #2

Wellington Fundraiser

Must Do

On Monday Monique, Sam, Alicia and I went to the Halswell shops and Westfield mall.  We went there because we were asking different shops if they would like to donate some prizes towards our Year 8 Fundraiser Quiz night as we are fundraising towards our Year 8 Wellington trip.

Halswell Shops

We we to the Halswell shops first,  Monique and I were partners.   We went to the Pharmacy first, hey said they would ask their boss so their is still a Chance.  Sam and Alicia went to Tiffany's they got a gift card so they were very grateful for it.  After that most of they shops didn't have their boss at work so they needed to talk it through with their boss.

Westfield Mall

Once we arrived at Westfield we went to first shop but they needed to talk it through with their boss.  Basically every shop after that needed to talk it through with their boss.  Then Monique and I went to Noel Leeming and they were willing to donate some prizes.  They gave us Two cook books and Two glass Jars.

Then we got back at school around 2.55 - 3.00.

My CARE Progress.

My CARE Progress.

I have done a check of my CARE progress so far this year.

I am proud of my progress.

I am Proud of my Progress because I achieved my Bronze last term and I have already got few ticks for my Silver.

How far away are you from reaching your Silver?

I am quite far away from my Silver.

The area of CARE that I need to try harder in C / A / R / E.

I have chosen Active Thinking because I don't contribute to class and group discussions that often.

To achieve my Silver award quicker I need to Tick all my ticks off straight away instead of waiting till I have like 50 ticks I need to record.

The one thing that I can do to improve my progress in CARE is try to use most of the CARE values for the rest of the year instead of using them sometimes.

We will review CARE progress again at the end of the term.

Music

W.A.L.T -  I can describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place.

Over the past 7 weeks I have been learning to describe the characteristics of music from songs of a different time and place.

I can describe these characteristics in a piece of music:

Melody - A part of a song that gets stuck in your head.

Harmony - A major song which is a happy song or a minor song which is a sad song.
Rhythm - A strong or regular repeated pattern.
Timbre - What makes the song unique.
Form - How the song is put together.

Here is an example of my learning.

Excellence Evidence - Can do #2

Kapa Haka

Can do

On Friday I had Kapa Haka.

Firstly, I walked respectfully to the hall and took my shoes off.  I entered the hall and sat in my place ready to start.

When everyone arrived, we starting warming up our voices.  The song we sung was He Honore.  Once we had sung that song, we moved onto Pa Mai.  The girl who usually started the song off wasn't there so the Year 8 girls had the opportunity to do it.  We didn't do it loud enough so the Year 4's gave it a go.  They were quite loud.

Then we sung Tahururu and Our school song.

The we started to practice for the Celebration of learning assembly and the Open day.

The CARE value I showed was Respect because I was very respectful towards others.

I got involved by singing at my very best each time.

Excellence Evidence - Kapahaka #1

Kapahaka

Can do

On Friday I had Kapahaka.  We Practiced for 45 minutes.

For our warm up we sung He Honore and Pa mai.  We hadn't sung Pa mai for ages so we didn't really remember the actions it.  We sung this with the non performance group.

After the Non Performance group left so the Performance group could practice their routine.  The Performance group started with Hareruia then we moved onto Tahuruhuru.

We spent a bit of time on Tahuruhuru because the was Rakau, Long Rakau, Poi and Long Poi so we got some practice on that.

After Kapahaka was finished the Year 8 boy's and Year 8 girl's practice Long Rakau and Long Poi because the wanted to get the sequence right.

The CARE value I showed was Respect because I was being respectful to others.

I got involved by singing at my very best each time.
